The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) organised a campus placement drive for students, at its Maidan Garhi campus in which four companies including multinational giants hired 86 students out of 432 aspirants.
The drive was organized by the Campus Placement Cell (CPC) of IGNOU as part of its drive every month in different parts ofthe country.
The companies included Go-Ibibo.com, Convergys, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd. and Policy Bazaar. Policy Bazaar and Convergys gave on the spot offer letter to the successful candidates with a CTC between 21,000 to 25,000 per month and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd. gave package of Rs 1.8 lakh per annum to the selected students.
Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sushma Yada, who was present during the drive said, "I welcome all the students, who have turned up for the drive; I would also like to congratulate you for being part of the world's largest university, as IGNOU ia brand." She thanked the companies for participating in the drive.
The companies claimed they selected students with good and effective communication skills. HR Manager, GO-Ibibo.com said, "In this competitive world, we have an expectation that, the candidate should at least be a graduate and should have impeccable communication and promising skills to get selected."
"I am really thankful to IGNOU for providing me this platform. Despite of learning in an Open University, we are also provided chance for campus placement that too coming from a regional centre and I am very much satisfied with the package the company gave.", said a student who was offered job by Go-Ibibo.com.
"CPC has been regularly organising placement drives for female students for cabin crew for leading airlines at different Regional Centres. In this month, six such drives were conducted in the western part of the country," said Manoj Kulshrestha, Director Incharge, CPC.
