Campus hiring kick-starts on a high note this season

Campus hiring seems to have taken off on an upward scale going by feedback from stakeholders.
Major IT companies have already started recruiting from campuses and placement officers foresee the numbers going up compared to the previous year.

At Cochin University of Science and Technology, TCS offered jobs to about 150 students last year. “It has now gone up to 201. Hiring began on a positive note since it took off in the first week of September,” said Premkumar C.V., faculty in-charge, Training and Placement Cell, Cusat.

“Companies are also giving good offers to students this time. The openings are also not restricted to software development alone, but includes IT infrastructure and engineering applications,” he said.
Recruitment is not confined to city campuses alone. Companies are also scouting for talents in rural areas. “The total job offers at Cucek from various companies was only 55 last year. But TCS itself has offered jobs to 56 students this time. Eight other students had received offers from leading companies,” said P.S. Sreejith, Principal of Cochin University College of Engineering in Pulinkunnu near Cherthala.

More companies will be visiting campuses in the city and the suburbs in the coming days for recruitment. “We expect about 60 firms to participate in the campus placement drive to be held here on September 26. Students from various colleges can attend,” said Thomas Mathew, Principal of U.C. College, Aluva.
Faculty members in-charge of placement cell at Model Engineering College under IHRD in Thrikkakara said that early indicators pointed towards a prospective placement season ahead. “Nearly five to six prominent companies have already visited our campus,” they said. for complete and original post see here
